Yin Yoga

What Is Yin Yoga?
A gentle, meditative, healing practice, Yin Yoga is rooted in the traditions of Yoga and Taoism, it draws on Buddhism, utilises Traditional Chinese Medicine, and is also firmly based on modern medical science.
This practice is called YIN yoga, because:
- it targets the yin tissues (the connective tissues - the fascia, the tendons, the ligaments - and the bones)
- it is done in a slow, static, i.e. yin style
- and requires a yin attitude: acceptance.
Today, there is too much emphasis on achievement, speed and gain (yang) in our lives today, and not enough focus on stillness, acceptance and peaceful contentment (yin). Yin yoga helps us regain the balance between yin and yang and - beyond its physical benefits - teaches us to see life as it is, without judgement.
You can practice with me in my classes or go even deeper with a bit of theory as well at my workshops.
The benefits of yin yoga
The results of a consistent practice are healthier joints, with a wider range of motion, energetically rebalanced organs and a steadier mind.
We achieve the benefits at three levels:
organs
With the poses we are also tapping into the body’s energetic system - as described by traditional Chinese Medicine. Through the meridians, the main organs get energetically re-balanced, which has a positive effect on our emotions.
